SAMPLE - Help organize a fiction climax |
An author was having trouble feeling the passion on the climax chapter to his novel. Here were the instructions I received for this project: - Female named G, regular human being.
- Male named B, regular human being.
- Bad Guy, supernatural being, member of The Group.
- The Group, supernatural beings like Bad Guy.
The Group are bad people but they're a little pissed off at Bad Guy.
Female character G has been taken into a special room in a cave by the Bad Guy. He's going to human-sacrifice her.
The Bad Guy has whatever supernatural powers you want to give him.
Male character B wants to save her, so he calls in other supernatural people from The Group.
People from The Group help male character B save female character G. B and G are sent into hiding.
I don't need the chapter written, just an outline of the plot, like I gave it above but with more details. The bigger, fancier, more cinematic you can make it, the better, while avoiding clichés as much as possible.
Here is an except from the three-page result: Arrival at the cave – Bad Guy's POV Anticipation of rebellion against The Group's dogmas
Fear of reprisal, but self-assured that The Group will lack unity to respond.
Disgust and hatred of G's species, shape, and mongrel philosophies.
Ravenous hunger for G's ample mind, lust for the kill.
The Dirt – G's POV G wakes up in a completely unlit place, hears the acoustic echoes of being deep underground feels cold, dirty, and her skin seems wet and chilled.
Tries to move and discovers she is very seriously injured, slowly realizes she's bleeding from the belly and eyes.
Bad Guy taunts her injuries and weak flesh, says all her hopeful philosophies led him to stalk her from the darkness.
Bad Guy makes comments to cause her more emotion than she can handle, such as, her humanity defines her place in a food chain among sentients – at the bottom – and that humanity is deluded when they think that their minds can serve them outside of the mundane.
G is aware that he's trying to make her kill herself by worsening her condition with difficult emotions and exertions to battle his will. She stays silent, controls her breathing, tries not to move.
Bad Guy continues goading her, with comments such as, this is just like any other day for a human – forced to compromise the choices of their will for the demands of survival because their mind lacks the power to sustain any significant action.
After much refusal to respond to things of this nature, she is finally goaded into a retort, and hemorrhages a lot of blood in the effort...
Fucked – B's POV B's internal dialogue is littered with psychic intrusions causing vomiting, muscle spasms, and emotional fits – he collapses in the street during the course of trying to have an ordinary day. Headaches pierce into him and finally the Group is able to communicate.
He awakes in the hospital, recovers in a few hours, and is given the signature sheet to accept emergency room charges.
He runs out the door in hospital garb and stumbles into the late night, heads toward home, but once alone is brought to his knees again by a message. He sense's G's familiar presence, and then a flurry of rapacious attacks which he senses are killing her.
B realizes that he cares more than he ever would admit aloud – and a vision of opportunistic hope gives him a vague impression that others like G's attacker might be able to save G.
